Three fires broke out in Pingtan, Fujian province, during the New Year Holiday, said the local firefighting brigade.

The first blaze took place at a warehouse near the Pingtan No.1 Middle School at around 9 am on Dec 31. Firefighters said it was caused by negligence.

Another fire occurred at an abalone breeding base in Aoqian town at 5 pm on Jan 2, engulfing all basket cages. The cause was suspected to be discarded cigarette butts.

An old bike also caught fire at a local court in Lancheng township at around 5:45 pm on Jan 2, firefighters said.
