The construction of a teaching building and a dorm at a middle school in Pingtan county made solid progress, as the exterior on both have been completed, Pingtan Times reported on April 26.

The two buildings, both four stories, belong to Dongyang Middle School in Wodi village, Dongyang township. It will replace the older buildings, which were deemed too dangerous to live in, as they were built 21 years ago.

In the next stage, construction efforts will go to auxiliary engineering such as laying of sewage pipelines, and building roads and walls, according to He Peichun, president of the school.

Construction of the new Dongyang Middle School started in March 2013. It occupies an area of 8,667 square meters. The teaching building will add a library and multiple labs not in the previous one.
