Li Dejin, director of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone's (PCPZ) administrative committee, made an inspection tour of a local shipping company on March 18 and pledged to further support its development.

The Fuzhou Liya Shipping Engineering Co, established in 1999, is engaged in shipbuilding, ship repairing, large steel works manufacturing and installation, and other marine business.

The company started from scratch and has been contributing to Pingtan's development over the past 15 years. PCPZ's administrative committee will continue to support the company and help address its problems concerning water supply, transportation and accommodation of its employees in order to create better conditions for its growth, said Li.

The majority of Pingtan's residents have long engaged in marine transportation, ship building and fishing, which all reflect their special and deep feelings for the sea. Liya is not only a marine-related enterprise, but also an embodiment of the marine culture, which is in line with Pingtan's long-time development plan, he added.

Li hoped that Liya will expand its ship building business and realize a win-win situation with the local government.
