An art troupe visited a psychiatric hospital in Fujian's Pingtan island county on Nov 23 and put on a show for doctors and patients.

The troupe consisted of members from the Fujian Veteran Chorus and the Changjiang Art Troupe affiliated to the People's Liberation Army. Tickets for the show were free.

"We hope to encourage and support the medical personnel and patients in this way. We also call on the society to pay more attention to them," said Li Rong, deputy head of the Fujian Veteran Chorus.

The patients also received a batch of quilts from the Taiwan-based Tzu Chi Charity Foundation.

"Hopefully the quilts can bring warmth to the patients and light them up. We wish that this could raise the public's awareness to the group and pass on the love," said Huang Suqing, a volunteer for the charity.

"Love has no boundaries. People from across the Straits are families," said He Ningxia, head of the psychiatric hospital.

"We hope to learn the charitable concept of Tzu Chi Foundation and inject it into our daily work. We'll have more spiritual interactions with our patients and treat them like families," he said.
