Tremors were felt in Pingtan, an island county in Fujian and the closest spot on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan, as a magnitude 3.9 earthquake rattled the middle of the Taiwan Straits (latitude 24.3 degrees and longitude 119.6 degrees) at a depth of 10 kilometers at 8am on Oct 28, Ceic.ac.cn reported.

The earthquake was felt in the coastal areas of Fujian province and the province's city closest to the epicenter was Quanzhou, but it did not cause any major damage due to its low magnitude.
