An inspection group of Pingtan senior officials visited Taiwan from Sept 9 to 14 to improve their understanding of Taiwan's development.

You Mengjun and Zhou Qingsong, deputy directors of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, led the group which visited several local enterprises and private agricultural organizations so as to interact with people from all walks and also to promote Pingtan's image.

The delegates from Pingtan traveled more than 1,000 kilometers from south Taiwan to the north.

You Mengjun said at a symposium in Taipei on Sept 14 that Pingtan extends invitations to its Taiwan friends and business people to visit Pingtan and check out investment opportunities.

He also said that after three years of construction since it became the Chinese mainland's first economic pilot zone opening up to Taiwan, Pingtan has upgraded its infrastructure levels and now enjoys a series of favorable polices related to Taiwan.

Zhou Qingsong said that Pingtan is accelerating the construction of an integrated customs system which will facilitate faster customs clearance, and it would also implement various tariff cuts for cargo imported from Taiwan.

Several business people and investors in Taiwan said they are looking forward to deeper cooperation with Pingtan, and pledged to visit the island county more frequently for pre-investment inspections.
