A cold wave swept Pingtan county on the night of Sept 24, bringing down temperatures slightly, according to a local weather bureau.
Thanks to Typhoon Usagi, which hit Guangdong province and moved westwards, Pingtan saw increased clouds and winds, with wind forces reaching 5 to 8 on the Beaufort scale and high temperatures of 29 C.
But temperatures dropped about three degrees in the past two days as the cold front arrived. Winds also grew stronger to a force of 8, said the weather bureau.
The bureau also advised people to rehydrate their bodies and eat more light food during dry days. It also encouraged precautionary measures to avoid catching a cold.
