The provincial, municipal and county-level maritime institutions in Fujian province conducted a joint patrol operation in the island county of Pingtan and the Haitan Strait under Pingtan's jurisdiction in a bid to ensure marine safety in the northern area of the province. The three-day operation kicked off on July 31.

Marine officers traveled on patrol boats from Zhuyu Port, and inspected the navigation environment and major water conservancy projects along the northern part of Haitan Strait, Changle coastal areas, the southern part of the Minjiang Estuary and other waters.

A Pingtan marine officer said that they will also conduct a national fire safety inspection for sea boats traveling in territorial waters between August 1 and October 30, focusing on facilities such as fire alarm systems, fixed fire-fighting systems, and mobile fire extinguishers.
