A pep rally for construction of an integrated customs regulatory system in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone was held on July 26.
As the Chinese mainland's first economic pilot zone opening up to Taiwan, Pingtan has been enjoying favorable policies from the central and provincial government. The new customs management system, which follows an innovative customs clearance model, is under full-tilt construction.
The project includes establishing two levels of customs barriers. It also seeks to set up a round-the-island supervision system, a digital platform on customs supervision information and a petty trade market opening to residents of Pingtan and Taiwan.
The new customs regulatory system will be put into operation by the end of this year. Each project should be finished on time and with the utmost quality, the Pingtan administrative committee urged at the meeting.
The new customs management model is of great significance to Pingtan's development, said Gong Qinggai, director of the county's administrative committee. He asked that relative departments spare no efforts in the construction.
Twelve customs experts from the General Administration of Customs and nearly 100 elite workers from Fuzhou customs have congregated at a seminar in Minhou county since July 22 to discuss details of the construction of Pingtan's new customs model. The seminar will continue over the next 150 days to map out design schemes for many projects and solve problems during construction.
