Three rounds of free clinics were conducted in Pingtan county by students from Fujian Medical University last Wednesday.
The postgraduates, who volunteered to participate in the program, gave basic body examinations such as blood sugar tests, blood pressure measurements and eye tests. They also gave away health care medicine to local people at Pingtan's county hospital, the Taiwan Entrepreneur Association and Lancheng township.
"The free clinic is of great meaning for us. We all welcome it," said Ms. Chen, who brought the whole family for medical consultations.
Mr. Li, a Taiwan businessman who came to Pingtan for investment earlier this year, has long been plagued by stomach illness. The medical students provided him with extensive treatment options after a thorough examination and illness breakdown.
In Lancheng townships, the medical team went from door to door for body checkups and health knowledge education.
"Through the campaign, we have gotten to know about the medical conditions in the villages, and grown a sense of responsibility as medical personnel. It's rewarding work," said a member of the medical team.
