Chen Rongkai, vice-governor of Fujian province, visited Pingtan on July 9 to investigate the construction of massive water projects.

Chen and his entourage inspected the entrance of Tianlingshan Tunnel, Sixty-Eight-Foot Lake and the seawall project at Jinjing Bay.

The process of review and approval of projects plays a big role in water project construction, said Chen, adding that the provincial government will expand the power of review and approval of the local government, simplifying the review process to shorten the preliminary preparation course of water projects.

Pingtan should apply for more financial resources from the central government and attract social funds through a provincial-level platform of investment and financing to ensure enough for water projects, said Chen.

He also urged local authorities to beef up safety efforts to enhance the quality of water projects.
