A senior official of the General Administration of China Customs (GACC) visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province, on July 5, to provide details about new customs polices benefiting Pingtan, China's first economic pilot zone to open up to Taiwan.
Zhang Wansheng, director general of GACC's Processing Trade & Bonded System Department, spoke about the regulation that GACC issued exclusively for Pingtan last month and that will take effect starting on Aug 1.
Zhang summed up the regulation in six points: a privileged customs administrative pattern, more tax cuts for enterprises in the pilot area, exemption of purchase tax on Taiwan goods, more flexible trade control policies, the establishment of rules for Taiwan vehicles on the Chinese mainland and building an intelligent customs supervision mode.
Gong Qinggai, director of the Pingtan administrative committee, thanked the GACC for its support of Pingtan's development and vowed to fully implement these policies.
