Pingtan releases high school entrance test results

Results of the high school entrance examinations in Pingtan, Fujian province, became available on July 5 to the delight of many and the dismay of some.
As many as 5,048 students took this year's high school entrance exam. Overall, they scored better than last year, said the local education bureau.
A total of 84 candidates scored above 500 points out of a total of 550, and 1,123 hit the 440-point mark, a threshold for the "excellent group". Lin Shuying from Hanying Middle School claimed the highest score with 527 points.
The cutoff score for the first-tier high school, namely Pingtan No 1 Middle School, was 473 points, three more than last year.
As many as 2,710 candidates scored at least 330 points to be eligible to study at a high school. They can fill in five ideal high schools on their application list.
The 11 high schools in Pingtan are expected to recruit 3,270 students this year. The recruitment results will be made public from July 12 to 15.
