The National Development and Reform Commission –China's state planning agency - recently approved the construction of the Dong'ao Central Fishing Port in Pingtan, east China's Fujian province.

The fishing port, with an investment of 148 million yuan ($24.1 million), is designed to improve the working conditions of fishing boats and also to offer them shelter during typhoons.
