Fujian officials visit Pingtan county

A group led by Fujian province's executive vice-governor, Zhang Zhinan, which paid a visit Pingtan county, on April 28, got a closer look at its development, with Zhang suggesting that they speed up work on a water transfer project designed to divert as much as 600,000 tons of water daily, from the Min River, the province's biggest.

Work is currently underway on a 220-kv transformer substation, which is expected to begin operation later this month. The generators will all be indoors to cut the amount of noise and improve safety and Zhang praised the innovative design and asked those in charge to deal promptly with any problems that could hinder future operations.

During a visit to the Haixia Bridge, which links the port of Xiaoshandong, in Fuqing, Fujian to the port of Nianggong, in Pingtan, Zhang, who is also a member of the of provincial Party committee's standing committee, called for quality in management and operations and greater care in the infrastructure, such as electricity and water, for a sound environment. Zhang and the delegation also got a look at industrial projects such as TPK's Pingtan branch (touch panels), the Shimao Pingtan Ocean Theme Park, and Haitan's Old Town.
