A special program about Pingtan will be launched by Hong Kong Satellite TV International Media Group soon, said Gao Hongxin, board chairman of the company, during his Wednesday visit to Pingtan on April 24, Pingtan Times reported.

"As the Chinese mainland's bridge to Taiwan, Pingtan is a hot area. We want to join in its construction and contribute to it," said Gao.

Hong Kong Satellite TV attaches great importance to Pingtan's strategic position. It hopes to use its communication advantages to collaborate with Pingtan in cultural media to boost the communication and integration of cross-Straits culture, added Gao.

The TV program will focus on a cultural park in Pingtan and the construction of a media communication base.

Gong Qinggai, director of the administrative committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, briefed the Hong Kong delegation on the zone's development status. He said he hoped Hong Kong Satellite TV could step up publicity efforts of Pingtan.
