A window for Taiwan people to deal with personal income taxes in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian, opened on April 17, Pingtan Times reported.
Yan Shijie, who is from Taiwan and works as a general manager of an engineering consultancy in Pingtan, received the first payment receipt after paying 56,040 yuan ($9,078) in personal income tax.
In accordance with a directive issued by the provincial government, Taiwan workers in Pingtan can apply for an allowance of 20 percent of their personal income tax – one of the preferential policies for the pilot zone.
The move aims to attract more Taiwan people to Pingtan for investment and work.
