As many as 120 families have come to an agreement with local land authorities from Beicuo township in Fujian's Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone on land expropriation terms.

The 120 families living in 65 houses in Cuoxiang village in the township have all signed compensation deals, agreeing to move to make room for the construction of an interchange, according to Zhang Zunyao from the local land procurement and relocation department.

"Next we'll start demolishing the houses," he said. "I'm so relieved."

"The land expropriation was peaceful, equitable and fair," he added.

Construction of the Yuping interchange – linking Tanxi Boulevard and Yuping Boulevard – kicked off in January with a total investment of 800 million yuan ($129.28 million). It is expected to be completed midway through 2014.

Under the project, land in the villages of Nianggong, Hongshan, Xianjian, Cuoxiang and Beicuo will have to be expropriated.

A total of 271 families in the villages have signed compensation deals in the past 20 days.
