A delegation from a Taiwan investment zone in Quanzhou, a port city in Fujian province, visited Pingtan, an island county in the province, on March 26 for possible business cooperation opportunities, Pingtan Times reported.

Gong Qinggai and You Menglong, officials from the administrative committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, met with the guests.

Gong Qinggai, the zone's chief administrator, said both Pingtan and Quanzhou are important development areas opening up to Taiwan, and they should learn from each other and expand communication.

Pingtan's opening-up and development aims to promote cross-Straits communication and cooperation to provide a new contact platform for enterprises and citizens across the Straits.

After three years of development, a batch of large comprehensive projects and high-tech enterprises has entered Pingtan, establishing the island as a cross-Straits cooperation spot. The next three years will see skyrocketing development for Pingtan's industries, according to Gong,

The delegation was surprised by Pingtan's rapid and high-quality development. They also expressed hopes to learn from Pingtan's experiences and to promote common development for both cities.
