The National Development and Reform Commission recently released the Industrial Development Guidance Catalogue for the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone to facilitate Pingtan's industrial development and opening-up to Taiwan, Pingtan Times reported on Feb 26.

The document aims to give full play to Pingtan's privileged policies and accelerate the development of the West Straits Economic Zone. It is expected to expand communication and cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

The file consists of seven categories, including new and high-technology, services, agriculture and ocean, tourism, social undertakings, ecological protection, and public infrastructure industries.

This State-level catalogue comes after the Overall Development Plan of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, launched by the State Council in November 2011. The catalogue will serve to guide the pilot zone's low-carbon, wise, eco-friendly and high-added value industrial system.

"The new file will help cultivate a cross-Straits common industry system and market and provide policy support for the Ministry of Finance in drafting a taxation privilege catalogue for industrial companies in the pilot zone," said Yu Zhaoqiang, director of Pingtan's key projects management office.
