Touch panel maker TPK's newly built Pingtan branch will begin operating in September 2013 with an expanded total capacity of 2.5 million pieces of touch panels per year, reported Huaxia.com on Feb 16.

The new 5.5-generation plant in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone is part of TPK Holding's expansion plan. The company is the largest touch panel manufacturer based in Taiwan.

The company has already signed long-term contracts to utilize the plant's full capacity, according to Liu Shiliang, TPK's chief financial officer.
