The first Taiwan-Pingtan co-founded concrete factory went into trial operation on Jan 31 in Pingtan's Jinjing Bay construction area, Pingtan Times reported on Feb 2.

Fujian Zhongrong Concrete Ltd was co-founded in Fujian province by Zhongfu Industries, who owns 60 percent of shares of the new company, and Taiwan's RSEA Engineering Corp.

The precast concrete factory has a production line with a yearly capacity of 900,000 cubic meters and will begin operation after Spring Festival between Feb 9 and 15.

RSEA is a key engineering company in Taiwan and has undertaken important projects such as Taipei 101 and Hsuehshan Tunnel, the longest tunnel in Taiwan. It is the first Taiwan company of its kind to enter the Pingtan market.

Thanks to advanced concrete technology from RSEA and Zhongfu Industries' franchise operation in Fujian province, the factory has great development potential, according to Li Hansheng, board chairman of Fujian Zhongrong Concrete Ltd.

He also noted the factory has installed dust collection equipment to reduce dust and noise during the concrete production process. The factory plans to grow more plants to create a better environment.

"Concrete production is only the start for the company. We hope to be involved in Pingtan's engineering industry in the near future," Li said.
