Pacific Construction Ltd delivered application materials to Pingtan's local transportation and construction bureau on Jan 14 to set up an office in Pingtan, Pingtan Times reported.

Zhang Qiming, general manager of the company, came up with the cooperation idea when he came to the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in November 2011.

It took less than two months to decide to settle in Pingtan after the company's first field trip.

With enhanced infrastructure, Pingtan is ready to embrace cooperation with companies across the Straits. Many Taiwan companies have made plans to find business opportunities with the pilot zone.

Pingtan is dedicated to building a pro-environment, low-carbon, intelligent pilot zone open to Taiwan. The development plans of Pacific Construction Ltd coincide with the pilot zone. Zhang wishes to tap Pingtan's rich resources and establish eco-leisure projects in order to create a green tourism complex in the booming island county.

"We hope our strength in service areas can contribute to Pingtan's future development," said Lin Cheng-Zhi, a delegate from the company's visiting group.

Pacific Construction Ltd was established in 1967 and went public in 1979 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. With more than three decades of experience, the company has strengths in construction, engineering, commodities retail, real estate and entertainment.
