Lin Cang-Sheng, chief executive officer of Uni-President Enterprises Corporation (UPEC) in Taiwan, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone on Jan 15, Pingtan's official website reported.
Officials accompanying the guests from Taiwan included Zou Erjun, deputy-director of the Fujian-Taiwan Economic Cooperation Promotion Commission, and Du Yuansheng, deputy-director of the pilot zone's administrative committee.
UPEC is a top 10 Taiwan financial group and is the largest listed food company in the region. Lin's Pingtan visit sought to find business opportunities in the pilot zone and expand trade and economic cooperation between Taiwan and Fujian province.
Du introduced Pingtan's opening-up and reform to the guests. He noted Pingtan's optimized infrastructure and how the opening of new marine routes has enabled faster, more convenient cross-Straits communication and cooperation. In addition, Pingtan's advantages in preferential Taiwan-related policies can help it develop into a common homeland for both sides of the Straits.
Taiwan guests hoped Pingtan will include more professionals from Taiwan in the decision making process of local government institutions and organizations. Pingtan will be able to form an optimized industrial chain by introducing more financially strong Taiwan companies.
The guests also visited other local projects such as Haixia Ruyi Real Estate Town.
