Pingtan opera troupe amuses at provincial drama event

Fujian province's fifth art festival and 25th provincial joint drama performance closed on Dec 27, 2012 in Longyan city, the Pingtan Times reported. Iron Spear, a drama performed by Pingtan's Minju opera troupe, won seven prizes during the event.
The festival was held between Dec 8 and 27. It was sponsored by the Fujian provincial government and hosted by the Fujian Cultural Department, Education Department, Radio and Television Bureau, Literary Federation, Radio and Television Group and the Longyan municipal people's government. The administrative committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone co-hosted the event.
The festival consisted of four parts: opening and closing ceremonies, professional art activities, mass culture activities, and cultural and arts exhibitions. Pingtan's Minju opera troupe took part in the professional art activities, along with roughly 50 other troupes.
Iron Spear was awarded seven prizes during the event, including first prize for lighting, stage decoration and costume. It also won second place prizes for the overall play category, director and composition.
