Registered capital for new companies from January to November this year totaled more than 12 billion yuan ($192.6 million) in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province. The figure outnumbered the total registered capital since last year, according to statistics from the local administration for industry and commerce.

The number of market organizations or individuals in the pilot zone reached 9,958 by the end of November, up 181 percent since the zone's establishment in 2009. The new enterprises have contributed to a record high of 20 billion yuan ($3.21 million) in total registered capital.

Domestic and foreign invested enterprises totaled 2,826 in the same period, a 232 percent increase. Taiwan-funded enterprises swarmed to the zone, facilitating trade and economic exchange and cooperation between Pingtan and Taiwan.

The total volume of enterprises, registered capital, gross investment and actual utilization of foreign capital increased by 17, 25, 25, and 13 times, respectively, compared to figures before the zone's establishment.
