The Taiwan Pingtan Relationship Association held its first general meeting on Nov 24, according to the preparatory committee of the Pingtan-Taiwan Merchants Association, reported Fujian Daily on Dec 6.

At the meeting, the association elected its first honorary president, Yu Mu-Ming, and president and director general, Li Sheng-Fong, according to Wu Cheng-Dian, executive director of the Taiwan-Pingtan Relationship Association.

Wu also noted that Pingtan's opening-up is a chance for Taiwan to help Pingtan build a common cross-Straits homeland. The new association will introduce Pingtan to more Taiwan people and host activities to inform Taiwan residents about Pingtan's development and business opportunities.

Wu revealed that a delegation from the Taiwan Pingtan Relationship Association will hopefully visit Pingtan at the end of the year.
