During the visit, Wang called for efforts to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He also stressed the guiding functions of the Scientific Outlook on Development. To promote scientific development, Fujian should fully understand socialism with Chinese characteristics, work towards the construction of a moderately prosperous society, and deepen reform and opening-up in all respects, he said.

He also praised Fujian for its prosperous development over the years. Fujian has strictly followed the guidelines of the Party Central Committee and has achieved great success in scientific development, said Wang. Despite the bad weather, the group visited a pipeline construction site in the Pingtan comprehensive experimental plot. During the visit, Wang stressed Pingtan's development as greatly significant in cross-Straits communication and cooperation. The Central Party and State Council view Pingtan as strategically important to the "great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation."

He also encouraged cities like Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou to develop regionally unique industries, improve self-innovation capabilities, strengthen personnel training and brand construction, and cultivate leading enterprises. He said, Fujian should treasure and maintain its natural resource advantages and promote ecological construction. Wang, together with his group, also visited the rest center for the ACFTU labor model in Xiamen.

He further urged that Party committees and governments at all levels should improve living standards and the political status of model workers in order to better implement the economic transformation and scientific development goals set down at the 18th National Congress of the CPC.
