Lin Shusen, member of the CPC Central Committee and deputy director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese, recently visited Pingtan.

He was accompanied by Wang Menghui, Fujian's vice-governor, Gong Qinggai and Zhao Xiaobo, officials of Pingtan's administrative committee.

Lin Shusen visited the Pingtan Planning Exhibition Hall, the integrated pipe ditch at Tanxi Avenue, the Aoqian high-speed passenger terminal and the Straits transit ship.

Gong Qinggai noted that new development projects on the island county adhere to high standards. The Straits commercial ship's current and expected routes will develop Pingtan as a communication and trade center between both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

Lin said that Pingtan plays an important role in facilitating cross-Straits communication. He also hopes Pingtan can offer better infrastructure and plans and policies for mutual development on both sides of the Straits.
