Taiwan people can now enjoy a longer resident endorsement period on the mainland, two years, thanks to a new regulation released on July 25. Seven Taiwan residents completed the endorsement procedure in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province, on the first day of the new regulation's implementation.

"The new regulation is great news for us," said Zhang Zhiqiang, a Taiwan citizen passing through Pingtan's Exit and Entry Administration.

The administration has been taking measures to simplify procedures, making it more convenient for Taiwan people to stay or live on the mainland. The longer endorsement period is one of these measures.

"We have been publicizing this new policy at the registration windows," said a police officer with the Pingtan Exit and Entry Administration.

Officers at the administration were trained and familiar with the new application procedures. The process has been expedited to take only two to three minutes.
