Nantian Temple, built in 1216, is located in Daifeng Mountain near Jinjiang city. Because of the distinctive stone Buddha engraved on the mountain cliff, it is also called the "Stone Buddha Temple". Nantian Temple is one of the four most renowned temples in the area of Quanzhou. The Buddha carvings are famous not only in southern Fujian, but also in foreign countries. The three statues are show Avalokitesvara, Buddha and Mahasthamaprapta. Each is 6 meters tall and 3 meters wide, and their niches are 7 meters high and 16 meters wide. The scale and exquisiteness of the cliff carvings in Nantian Temple is beyond compare.
