The city leaders of Jinjiang, in Fujian province, held a meeting on its new textile and clothing manufacturing zone, on June 9, where companies intending to settle in the zone spoke about their land needs and development ideas.

The zone is considered an important step toward expanding the local textile and apparel industries and the companies taking part in the meeting explained their preliminary designs while the city departments described their plans for supporting the new project, and the mayor, Liu Wenru, pointing out how the Zone is served by its location, transportation, and industrial base, providing a great opportunity for enterprises in the future.

The city's Party chief, Chen Rongfa, explained that they had arranged the meeting to deal with any problems the companies might encounter and to encourage them to improve their development plans and concluded by saying, “The companies need to be aware of their responsibility of finding proper projects and making good use of the opportunity.”

Chen went on to ask the authorities to cooperate well with the companies and speed up the construction of public infrastructure in the Zone.

Jinjiang is considered China's Brand City with an economy mainly supported by manufacturing and the new zone expected to be a catalyst in building a 100-billion-yuan ($16.1billion) textile and clothing industry.
