Xi'an Expo awarded Metropolis Landscape prize

Xi'an World Horticultural Exposition was awarded the 2011 Asian Metropolis Landscape Prize at the Asian Metropolis Landscape Development Exchange Conference, held in Fukuoka, Japan.

In addition to the Xi'an World Horticultural Exposition, two other Chinese city projects won the prize – the Beijing Nanluogu Lane and Qingdao high-tech zone river system garden landscape.

The conference chose to reward 10 projects for Asian countries and regions. The conference was sponsored by the Asia-Pacific Office of the United Nations Human Settlements Program, Asian Human Settlements Environment Association, Asia Landscape Design Society, and Japan Fukuoka Asia Metropolis Research Institute.

It attracted over 100 professionals from China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. The conference set up a new honorary award for an individual, which was conferred to Ding Xuejun, deputy director of the management committee of Xi'an Chanba ecological zone.

The Asian Metropolis Landscape Prize was established to build an environment of happy life for Asian people. The prize is conferred to cities, regions and projects that have exemplary roles in landscape construction.
