Theme park to be built at the site of Xi'an Int'l Expo

The site of the Xi'an Chanba International Expo Park will be built into a theme park, half a year after it closed on Oct 22. This announcement was made at a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the International Horticultural Exposition in Xi'an on Oct 9.

Xi'an has put forward the principle of "overall retention and scientific utilization", and plans to build an environmental protection education base, the Xi'an Chanba International Expo Park and Xi'an Chanba Amusing Park.

The International Expo Park will retain four landmarks such as the Chang'an Tower, Theme Pavilion, Guangyun Entrance and Greenhouse and three special service zones namely the Romance by the Ba River, Southeast Asian Street and European Avenue and part of exhibition pavilions; the Park will also be equipped with international advanced entertainment facilities, striving to build itself into an open park.

Chanba Park plans to established itself into well-known film themed park, add leading entertainment equipments such as a film workshop and a 5D cinema; after completion, it will be the most influential theme park in the northwestern region and perhaps even in the whole country.

The construction of the theme park will start on the day right after the closing of the Expo, and will be opened to the public on April 28, 2012, the anniversary of the inauguration of Expo 2011 Xi'an.
