Horticultural Expo ABC
Mission of the International Horticultural Exposition
Updated: 2011-03-29

The International Horticultural Exposition, an international event with widespread influence and a long history, is organized by host country governmental organizations and related departments commissioned by the government of the host country.

It is a non-trade global exhibition. Unlike general international trade expositions, it aims at promoting communication and development in the economy, culture and science and technology across the world.

The exposition provides every participant ample opportunity to promote itself, and present its achievements in various fields for the entire world to see. Therefore, the International Horticultural Exposition can be looked upon as the “Olympics” for the world economy, science and technology.

In the past 100-plus years, especially in recent decades, countries around the world have actively bid to host the International Horticulture Exposition.

They do so primarily for the following five reasons:

1. hosting the expo provides the host country with an opportunity to promote its products and technology to the international market and develop international trade and technological cooperation to seek greater development;

2. the host country can expand international communications and raise its reputation as well as its international status;

3. the host country can expand its horizons to introduce advanced technologies from other countries and explore new innovative approaches;

4. the exposition can help to promote urban construction and economic and social development for the host country;

5. the host country can gain increased economic benefits as the international horticultural exposition provides favorable business opportunities.
