The limitation to foreigners, stateless persons being entrusted as criminal defenders

According to provisions of the Supreme People’s Court’s Interpretation on the Application of Criminal Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China, the foreigners and stateless persons shall not be entrusted as criminal defenders. But if the foreigner or stateless person is a guardian or near relative of the defendant, and the defendant entrusts him to be his criminal defender, the people’s court may allow.
