Bengbu to erect new landmark
Updated: 2013-03-12

Bengbu, in East China's Anhui province, plans to erect a new landmark consisting of a concert hall and an opera house by Longzi Lake.

The building was designed by Preston Scott Cohen, chair of the department of architecture of Harvard University, according to local urban planning authorities.

Construction on the 600-million-yuan ($96.3 million) project is scheduled to start this year and is expected to finish in 2015, said a source with the urban planning bureau of Bengbu.

The concert hall is designed to have a seating capacity of 600, while the opera house can hold up to 1,200 people.
