Anhui receives 10m visitors during Spring Festival
Updated: 2013-03-11

Anhui province welcomed 10.15 million tourists over the New Year holiday in 2013, up 17.3 percent from a year earlier, local authorities said on Friday.

Its tourism revenue totaled 2.75 billion yuan ($436.51 million), representing a year-on-year increase of 29.6 percent, according to the provincial holiday administration.

During the holiday, running from Jan 1 to 3, fine weather and smooth traffic flow throughout the province were blessings to travelers.

Sixty-eight scenic areas surveyed got off to a good start by registering 1.14 million visitors, up 4.1 percent compared with the same period last year. Ticket sales grew by 12.3 percent to 23.93 million yuan.

Public cultural spots like memorials, museums and parks were packed with tourists during the three-day break. Hot springs and other leisure-themed attractions saw higher growth in visitors versus mountains and scenic spots.
