Xuancheng to relocate Longxi Tower
Updated: 2013-02-06

Longxi Tower, situated in Xuanzhou district of Xuancheng, will be moved to another location 120 meters away from its current home.

According to Liu Zheng, a staff member at the Xuancheng municipal bureau of cultural heritage, Longxi Tower was rebuilt in 1259. The seven-story tower is about 22 meters high and 3.4 meters wide. It was listed as a province-level protection unit of cultural heritage in June 2011.

The tower is close to the Shuiyang River and is often flooded during rainy season resulting in great loss. In order to solve this problem, the related departments decided to move the tower to make room for the Shuiyang River.
