Jilin Province is situated in the central part of northeast China. It borders with Russia to the east and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the southeast. It overlooks Japan and the Republic of Korea across the sea.

Being one of the important industrial bases in China, the province has three pillar industries, known as automotive, petro-chemical, and agricultural food processing. Meanwhile, Jilin Province is also advanced for science, technology and education.
