Liu Liyan, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), has suggested that the express industry should develop in an orderly and healthy manner, so as to serve people better, according to Jilin Daily.

According to Liu, online shopping is a very common way of buying goods during daily life. During the epidemic period in particular, the advantages of online shopping have become even more prominent. However, while online shopping brings convenience and benefits to people, there are also some problems and shortcomings, especially problems in the regulation and management of the express delivery industry, which need to be resolved.

Liu said that with the rapid development of e-commerce, people can enjoy shopping without going out, but this has generated a lot of packaging waste. A large number of plastic bags, tapes, and foam fillings are directly landfilled or incinerated, causing pollution in the soil and air.

She believes that we should "start from the source" and promote environmentally-friendly packaging. The express delivery industry should establish relevant standards to clarify both the environmental protection standards of express packaging materials and the quantity levels of various non-degradable materials used in packaging.

At the same time, various methods can be used to encourage customers to voluntarily reuse waste packaging, introduce packaging waste management measures, and establish a recycling system with clear rights and responsibilities.
