Changbai Mountain ice, snow tourism festival kicks off

The launch ceremony for the 2020 Changbai Mountain ice and snow tourism festival kicked off in Northeast China's Jilin province on Nov 28 at Changbaishan International Resort in Baishan city.

The event was hosted by the Jilin Province Department of Culture and Tourism and organized by a skiing-themed app called Hua Bei. It also received support from the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the China ski resort association.

During the skiing season, thousands of people will participate in eight main events and five series of activities which will run to Dec 4. These will include representatives of more than 100 ski clubs in the country, investors, representatives from winter sports companies, as well as members of university skiing associations.

On the opening day, a ski club elite invitation tournament was held, as well as an ice and snow hike which attracted thousands of people. There was also a band performance, an exhibition of goods from Baishan and a ski suit show.

There was also a cultural performance and a bonfire to entertain the visitors.

In addition, the 2020 winter tourism season of Baishan city was officially launched. It will run until April in 2021 and stage more than 60 ice and snow activities that explore five themes.

Spending vouchers, discount tickets, as well as a selection of quality tourist routes and tourist spots will also be offered.
