A promotional event for local industries and Jilin brands was held on Oct 17 in Fusong county in Baishan city, a city in Northeast China's Jilin province.

The event leveraged media outlets to demonstrate the resource advantages and the development potential of Jilin's distinctive industries and focused on key industries and promoting the province's local brands.

Fusong county is located in the southeast of Jilin, the northeast of Baishan city and the northwest foot of Changbai Mountain. It has great forest resources – as well as hydropower, minerals, ginseng medicine, mineral water, forest food and tourism resources.

In recent years, Fusong has continued to industrialize its local resources and developed all-for-one tourism, said Liu Shoujun, the vice magistrate of the county.

Liu told the event that, at present, Fusong is focusing on developing its organic food industry. One example of this is the local SHIZENOHKOKU forest food company, which has established itself as a leading honey brand in China.

The company's honey products are pure, natural, have zero additions and have obtained European Union organic food certification, as well as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety system certification.

The company has set up a production line with international standardization for food and medicinal materials and a production and finishing facility for its organic food raw materials. It is located in an industrial park in the county, covering an area of 170,000 square meters.

The company plans to invest 1.9 billion yuan ($284.24 million) in its international forest food industrial park, which will be developed in three phases. After phase one is completed, the annual output value of the company will exceed 1 billion yuan.

With the support of the government, relying on local resources, the company will implement a tailor-made development strategy.

It will be environmentally and ecology oriented, assisting poverty alleviation through industry development, while being organic and healthy.

It plans to take the lead in strengthening and expanding the honey product market, so as to drive the development of other forest food lines such as the company's ginseng series and blueberry series of products -- turning distinctive local resources into distinctive products.

Li Changda, chairman of the company, said that the industrial park under construction is currently the largest forest food industrial park in China and will be the largest in Asia in the future.

Li added that in the process of the development, Fusong county has offered great help.
