The passenger throughput of Changchun Longjia International Airport -- in Changchun, the capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province -- has reached 1.02 million in August, according to local media reports on Sept 10.

Its cargo and mail throughput of that month was 6,630 tons and the number of transport flights is 7,898, exceeding 90 percent volume of the same period last year.

It was the first time Changchun airport's monthly passenger throughput topped one million since the novel coronavirus outbreak. From June to August, the recovery rate of the airport's various key operations-related indicators achieved double-digit month-on-month growth for three consecutive months.

Following the resumption of the trans-provincial group tourism business, round-trip passenger flows between Changchun and many main cities of China increased rapidly.

The average number of passengers departing from the airport has now reached more than 75 percent of the pre-coronavirus period levels.

In the wake of the transfer of China Southern Airlines flights from Beijing Capital International Airport to Beijing Daxing International Airport on Aug 25, Changchun airport is planning 16 flights to the national capital daily -- split into eight flights each of the two airports.

In addition, the airport has made some adjustments for the summer and autumn tourism peak seasons and more exhibitions being held in Changchun from August to October.

The airport is working with Air China and Hainan Airlines to increase the flight density on Beijing routes and use Airbus 330 wide-body aircraft to provide high-quality flight services for business travelers to and from Jilin.
