A promotional event for the 3rd China International Import Expo was held on July 21 in Changchun -- capital of Northeast China's Jilin province -- according to local reports.

The expo, also known as CIIE, will be held in the city of Shanghai on Nov 5-10, the organizers said.

Nearly 100 representatives from the CIIE organizing committee, the Department of Commerce of Jilin Province, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), Jilin companies, as well as other related departments, participated in the event.

Officials from the province' commerce department said that attending CIIE offers opportunities for Jilin to broaden its economic and commercial opening-up and for its companies to compete in international markets.

They said that during the previous two CIIE events, the province organized the participation of 23 trade groups, involving more than 8,000 company representatives.

This year, the province will deepen its cooperation with the expo, which is expected to boost economic revitalization in the province.

Jilin officials said the province is currently making full preparations to attend the event and companies in the automobile, food and agricultural sectors, among others, are expected to participate.
