FAW-Volkswagen -- a Sino-German joint venture based in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province -- recently received an outstanding contribution award in 2019 from the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, for its contributions to programs for the public good, according to local reports.

Last year, the company cooperated with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, a national public welfare organization for poverty alleviation managed by the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development.

Company officials said it completed many public welfare programs, including natural disaster relief work and targeted poverty reduction.

This year, the company has donated 40 million yuan ($5.61 million) for the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, donating medical materials and equipment to seriously hit areas and giving support to medical workers.

The company will continue to cooperate with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation in the areas of targeted poverty reduction and disaster relief, according to company officials.
