Northeast China’s Jilin province reported one new confirmed COVID-19 case on May 13, according to the local health authority.

The provincial health commission said the new domestically transmitted case, which was discovered in Jilin city, involved a contact of an earlier confirmed case in the city.

Officials said that due to previous new cases, the city immediately expanded its lockdown measures, such as implementing close-off management of residents, halting most transportation and prohibiting public gathering activities.

By the end of May 13, the province had reported a total of 115 locally transmitted confirmed cases, including 92 that were treated and discharged from hospitals, 22 still in hospital and one fatality.

There are currently a total of 495 close contacts of locally transmitted confirmed cases in the province, who are all in quarantine and under strict medical observation.
