Changchun firm, Inner Mongolia partner in satellite sector

Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co Ltd -- a company based in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province -- signed a cooperation agreement with North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region in the region's capital Hohhot on May 7, according to local officials.

The accord aims to strengthen the autonomous region's ecological management capability and governance system through satellite remote sensing, accelerate the construction of satellite remote sensing big data industry and promote the autonomous region's high-quality development, officials added.

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in policies, technologies and professionals, to promote large-scale applications and the industrialization of satellite remote sensing in Inner Mongolia.

Universities, research institutes and companies in the region will partner up to promote the integrative development of satellite big data, 5G, cloud computing, AI and more high-tech fields.

The two sides will also cooperate in applying satellite remote sensing to natural resources surveys, ecological environment monitoring, comprehensive surveys of forest resources, as well as the prevention and reduction of natural disasters -- to help the economic and social development of the region.

In addition, a satellite will be named "Inner Mongolia 1" and a satellite applications technology center will be established in the autonomous region, according to officials.
