The 4th Snow and Ice Industry Expo (Jilin) and the 23rd Ice and Snow Tourism Festival (Changchun) will be held in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province on Dec 12-17, officials said.

They were giving details of the upcoming event at a news conference held on Nov 28 in Changchun.

Launched in 2016, the annual event is the only expo in the country with a focus on the snow and local officials said it is the most influential winter tourism expo in Northeast China.

Compared with previous events, this year’s expo will feature elements of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, the participation of the country’s leading museums, as well as the integration of activities concerning tourism, trade and poverty alleviation.

More than 600 culture, tourism and sports activities related to ice and snow will be held during the event, including an ice and snow economy summit forum, as well as 14 activities themed around the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

The expo area will be established at the Changchun International Conference and Convention Center, with a total area of 100,000 square meters. More than 1,000 exhibitors will take part in the event.

The indoor exhibition will cover 60,000 sq m with 3,448 stands, with themes on winter sports, winter sports equipment, winter sports in Changchun and more.

The outdoor exhibition will cover 40,000 sq m, showcasing snow sculptures and offering experience activities such as live CS (Counter-Strike) games and fun games in snow fields.

Thirty-six museums -- including the National Museum of China, the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Museum -- will also participate in the event, displaying their unique cultural and creative products.
