Changchun uni sets Guinness world record for sign language

A total of 10,223 teachers and students “sang” a song Grateful Heart in sign language on the sports ground at Changchun University -- in Changchun, capital of Northeast China’s Jilin province on Nov 1 -- setting a new Guinness world record for the "most people performing sign language".

According to university officials, the event was held to call on people to show their care and respect for the disabled.

Changchun University has been committed over a long period to developing special higher education and helping the disabled get employment or start a business.

Officials said at the event that sign language was being promoted at the university.
